The release of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s film ‘Fighter’ has been rejected in all Gulf nations except the UAE.

Bad news awaits fans of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone residing in Gulf countries who were eagerly anticipating the release of their film ‘Fighter.’ According to Girish Johar, a film industry expert and producer, “#Fighter has faced a setback, experiencing an official ban for theatrical release across Middle East regions. The only exception is the UAE, where the film will be released with a PG15 classification.”

The reason behind the ban on ‘Fighter’ in Gulf countries has not been disclosed thus far. Despite facing a hurdle with the censor board in the Gulf, the aerial action thriller is set to hit Indian theaters on January 25. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film features Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi. Centered around the Balakot airstrike conducted by the Indian Armed Forces in response to a terror attack in J&K, the movie depicts the events surrounding the airstrike on the alleged largest camp of the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in nearly 40 CRPF soldiers losing their lives.

This marks Deepika Padukone’s third collaboration with Siddharth Anand, following 2008’s “Bachna Ae Haseeno” and the 2023 blockbuster “Pathaan.” Additionally, it is Siddharth Anand’s third project with Hrithik Roshan. Their initial venture, “Bang Bang!,” had a budget of ₹160 crore and grossed ₹340 crore worldwide. Their subsequent collaboration, “War,” was made with a budget of ₹150 crore and raked in ₹471 crore at the box office, featuring Tiger Shroff alongside Hrithik Roshan.

In “Fighter,” Hrithik Roshan portrays Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania, aka Patty, while Deepika Padukone takes on the role of Squadron Leader Minal Rathore, aka Minni. Anil Kapoor, a veteran actor, plays the character of Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh, aka Rocky.

Siddharth Anand, discussing the film, expressed, “Mamta (Siddharth’s wife) and I initiated our film company, MARFLIX, with #FIGHTER. A project that is ambitious on multiple fronts and holds significant personal importance. It means more than just a film to us, and we have dedicated our all to it. As 2024 commences, the familiar mix of nervousness and excitement surrounds us again. Hoping that you all shower the same affection on ‘FIGHTER’ as you did on ‘PATHAAN.’ Happy New Year, everyone! See you at the movies on 25th January.”
